Dear Medical Physics faculty and students,
Today, Nov. 7, is the International Day of Medical Physics. I encourage
you all to recognize this day in realization of the great contribution
that medical physics has made to the human health and continues to do
so. Here is a well-appointed communication that was sent out earlier
this morning by the AAPM. As you check out the linked websites, you will
recognize the Medical Physics 3.0 initiative (the website was unveiled
this morning) and some familiar faces 😉 I am proud of the contribution
that Duke is making in the advancement of healthcare and of our
discipline.
We have a unique opportunity to generate awareness and draw attention to
the vital role medical physicists play in patient care. Join AAPM and
the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP) in celebrating
the 4th annual International Day of Medical Physics on Monday, November
7th.
The AAPM website [1] provides links to a poster by the IOMP and a video
by the AAPM Medical Physics 3.0 initiative. Use these unique resources
as a springboard to start conversations at your institution, and join in
on the online conversation. It’s time to step out from behind the
curtain and make the value of our profession known to our colleagues,
administrators, patients, and the public.
